LyoVIS®

Technology

LyoVIS ® is an advanced process analytical technology (PAT) that offers precise, real-time monitoring of the freeze-drying process in individual vials using a technique called Through-Vial Impedance Spectroscopy (TVIS). Utilizing non-invasive electrodes  fitted on the outer surfaces of each vial, LyoVIS ® measures the electrical impedance spectrum of the vial and its contents over a broad frequency range (10 Hz to 1 MHz). This comprehensive frequency analysis captures critical processes, such as the dielectric relaxation of ice, which provides valuable insights into the state of the drying process.

Through detailed analysis of the impedance spectra, LyoVIS ® accurately determines essential process parameters, such as temperature and ice content, while also identifying various drying phenomena. This capability allows for enhanced control and optimization of the freeze-drying process, ensuring product quality and efficiency.

Non-invasive

sensing

External electrode placement ensures that the sensing does not interfere with the lyophilization processes. This design allows for accurate monitoring, providing data that is highly representative of the true drying behaviour.

Multichannel

analysis

Our multichannel analyser permits the sensing of several vials during drying. This ensures that inter-vial process variation (such as with edge-vial cases) can be tracked.

Unimpeded

vial packing

Our low profile, bespoke electrodes ensure that packing of vials in a batch in unimpeded. Packing remains unaffected; stoppering remains unaffected; drying remains... well... you get it.

Comprehensive analytics

LyoVIS ® data can be used to analyse all sorts of drying processes such as nucleation temperatures, ice crystal growth rate, solids fraction stability and process endpoints.
